The Walt Disney company is the third global  media conglomerate. Its FY revenues topped 25 billion dollars, with 27% derived from parks and resorts, 24% from from studio entertainment and 17% from media networks.

Disney is so successful because its shares/ ownerships in different companies. For example- In the film industry Disney own parts of touchstone pictures, Hollywood pictures, caravan pictures, miramax film, buena vista home entertainment. This means that a percentage of whatever profit they get will also go to Disney which means they will keep getting more and more money. The film industry is huge for Disney and them joining together with other businesses makes Disney even more globally known and successful.
Disney also work within the music industries Buena Vista Music Group, Hollywood Records , Lyric Street Records, Mammoth Records, Walt Disney Records 

this will also generate Disney more money as they will have money coming in from the music business' they are working with . Disney have done this with a lot of area's such as the internet, recreation, publishing and broadcasting. All similar in what they have done with film and music. They work with other companies to benefit one another. This makes them more successful and globally conglomerate because the more business' they work with the more profit they will make and have. As for globalisation the company it gives them more branches to wider audiences and different countries if they are working with different companies in different areas of media.

Disney have bee described as the masters of media synergy. As an example we can look at the film 'Avengers' this is an example of Disney working efficiently with another company to make money. Marvel is a subsidiary of Disney and distributed by Walt disney pictures. As a result of this the film had a mass audience appeal. The film appears to a wide range of different demographics by including characters age groups, ethnicities and genders. Using superheroes helps it appear to more global audiences.

Disney appeals to many audiences such as adults and children. The films especially are family favourites this is what creates their success because they are fun for everyone to watch and enjoy. They can also be enjoyed in any city or country as the morals taught and lessons learnt are applicable for any young child. Disney have effectively done this to make them successfull and then used their success to invest and buy other companies/ work with other companies to make their products more global. For example they have bought lucasfilm and will then use this to make them even more money. Them buying into companies with massive fan bases already is going to mean that their products will reach more and more people and audiences. This is how they have been successful.
